NLP Explanation for Your Excellence

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) uses a process called modelling to alter the patterns you have formed from your conscious mind and which are embedded in your subconscious mind to become habitual behaviour. Any habitual behaviour you exhibit you have really internalized has moved from your conscious mind, your conscious awareness to the domain of subconscious mind. It also has to do with how you use your senses and how you use your body, your physiology.
- Neuro has been said that you have multi-millions of experiences attempting to enter your neurology via your five senses every second. It is the role of your subconscious mind to filter out from entering your neurology anything it feels will not be beneficial to you in your present circumstance. If you change your focus and start to look for new things, your neurology will adapt to that.
For example:
You have decided to buy a new car, and you have chosen the brand, Mercedes. And you’ve decided on the SLK 200. As you drive around, you start to see the Mercedes, SLK 200, everywhere and anytime. The question is: Did the SLK 200 suddenly appear, on the streets, as if from nowhere, or were they always there?
They were always there, but your attention was not on them until you decided to bring them into your focus. That happens with everything in your life.
Therefore, don’t focus on what you don’t want (read my previous article about Focus on What You Want). Example: You have an important meeting for your future career. Instead of saying what you don’t want: “I hope I don’t blow this meeting like I did the last one.”, it’s better to say: “I’m well-prepared for this meeting, and I can feel the successful outcome.”
- Linguistic has to do with the language, that is, words and phrases you use either in your internal chatter and when you think, or in the language you use when conversing with other people. Your quality of life is largely dependent upon the language you use, because it’s largely through your language that you program your neurology.
Your ability to establish rapport is based on your communication style and your ability to pace and lead others to an appreciation of your point of view; the message that you are trying to get across.
Language also is an important tool in business, being the currency of your rapport-building skills as you communicate and trade. You can either use language to expand you or you can use it to limit yourself. Often in the business world, people engage in neutral and abstract language. This may feel temporarily ‘safe’, but it achieves limited results. Inspirational speakers, motivators, effective leaders are all aware of the important of the linguistic component of their job.
- Programming means altering the conditionings we have adopted from our various developmental periods, viz Imprint Period (ages 0-7), Modelling Period (7-14), Socialization Period (14-21), Business Persona (21-35).
Everything you do has a strategy attached to it. If you understand your strategies, you can identify the ones that still serve you well and the ones which have become redundant to your empowering personal evolution. Understanding your behavioural strategies expands your choices, and one of the presuppositions of NLP is: All procedures are designed to increase choice.
To increase your repertoire of strategies, NLP applies the concept that if someone can do it, anyone can do it. This philosophy is the basis of modelling, doing what people do who are brilliant in their field, and applying the strategies of how they do it.
The programming of NLP allows you to expand and be more of the wonderful person who is you. In other words, NLP techniques are a toolkit whereby the person you are can expand. Good behaviour will expand, as will questionable behaviour.
In a business context this means learning what each individual has to offer. Modelling opens up a new world of how we recognize potential to be used for the good of all.
