Resource Anchoring to Feel More Confidence

If you are one of those individuals who would like to feel more confidence, then there is a simple technique known as ‘resource anchoring’ which you can use to help you get into a more resourceful state as and when you need to.
A resource anchor allows a specific state to be accessed when needed. If you’re about to attend an important meeting, it would be beneficial to you to put your points across confidently and articulately and with the help of anchoring you can achieve this.
Simply follow the steps below to create your very own resource anchor:
1. Identify a situation where you want to feel more resourceful.
2. Choose the resources you would like in that situation for example, confidence.
3. Choose two anchors. One should be kinesthetic – such as pressing your thumb. The second could either be auditory – saying the word ‘confidence’ (can be said inside your head!) or it could be visual (seeing an image of you in the resource state).
4. Recall a time when you experienced the resource state. Close your eyes float down into your body and see what you were seeing, hear what you were hearing and really feel what you were feeling at that time.
5. Activate the anchor the second the state begins to peak i.e. the very second the experience becomes vivid and you are in the desired state. Ensure there are no negative states such as anxiety etc associated into the experience as you will anchor this too.
6. Release the anchor the second the resource state declines i.e. when the experience begins to fade.
7. Open your eyes and break state. Count down from 10 to 0 or stand up and sit down again.
8. Repeat steps 3 to 6 several times and each time making the memory more vivid.
9. Test the anchor. Apply the anchors and check that the required state occurs.
10. Future pace. Identify several situations where you would like to have access to this resource state. Imagine being in each situation and as you do so, this will create an association between the desired resources state and the situations.
The more you use the anchor the more your mind will associate ‘confidence’ with that specific anchor. The more you practice something such as confidence the better you will become at it and it will become a state that you easily utilize quite naturally. So start changing your life and changing some of those negative states into more positive and resourceful ones.
